Bead-of-the-Week #28:

For the last 'bead-of-the-week' of 2006, I created a fiery pyramid-shaped flat tab focal bead.  Shades of orange and yellow are mixed with silvered ivory for a sense of movement, and decorated with tiny granules of fine silver on the surface.  The bead is suspended from a large, hand-formed sterling silver bail with a scrollwork finish - ready to wear!

Size: Focal = 25mm x 27mm

At last, I managed to make a Christmas-theme bead way ahead of the actual holiday! *grin*  This is a large lentil-shaped focal bead, with an inner core of shimmering gold, decorated on the surface with a floral theme... (and if you buy it now, you should get it in time to use it to create a lovely jewelry item that you can wear throughout the holidays!).

This is a brand new bead design for me, and I really like the results!  I brought a few of these to my most recent show, and they sold very well, so I'm quite pleased that everyone else likes them, too... (there are two photos attached of the same bead so that you can see the shape).
It's an organic, freeform-shaped focal bead resembling a folded leaf or blooming flower in sparkling Laucha glass.  You can turn it into a pendant or the focal centre of a necklace, with a cascade of beads placed in the centre (I'm attaching an example picture to give you an idea of how how that might look...).

I have had several requests for this amethyst floral set, so here it is!  A dark amethyst floral focal bead on a black background, surrounded by accent beads in black and amethyst, including a pair of matching floral accent beads. 11 beads in total.

Simple and elegant, airy and gorgeous - I love the way this little vessel turned out, and I will definitely make more in different pale transparent colours of glass... Comes with a tiny cork stopper :)

I made the beads for this necklace a while ago, using ivory glass, raku frit, and sterling silver wire on the focal bead.  I held onto the necklace in the studio because I loved the simple beauty of the lampwork beads combined with the peacock freshwater pearls... But it's time to let it go, so here it is, ready to wear, with a sterling silver clasp and extender chain... :)

Bead-of-the-Week #22:

"Mystery Set"

The 'mystery set' is made with a combination of transparent ink blue glass and opaque violet glass. The small focal bead is decorated with swirls, while two accent beads are decorated with random dots of fine silver.  Four beads are accent spacers, and two more are encased in sparkling clear. There are 9 beads in the set, and they would make a great bracelet :)

Size: Small Focal = 8mm x 14mm, Accents and Spacers = 7mm x 12mm average.

I have made these beads in the past, but they are always very popular, and I can't seem to keep them in stock!  So, here is a pair of turquoise donuts, decorated with ivory... Simple and beautiful, with a large hole - great for stringing onto silk cord, crochet rope, several strands of seed beads, or on a simple silver chain...

I have been playing with my Japanese Satake glass again, and it's so different from the usual Italian glass that I use, so the designs are very new and refreshing... The bead is a long focal, a slim hourglass shape, in a pale blue glass decorated with green swirls at one end and blue pinwheels on the other end, evoking a landscape... I guarantee that you will love the extraordinarily smooth feel of this bead in your hands - enjoy!

I was working on a custom order, and I ended up making two to give the client a choice - she liked the lighter colour of the other vessel that I made,

so this one is up for grabs!  It's made of dark amethyst glass, decorated with purple and pink flowers between green vines, and comes with a little glass stopper. 

The glass stopper is mostly for decorative purposes, and not secure enough for actual use,  but if you would like to wear this vessel rather than just display it, let me know, and I'll send you a little cork stopper as well.

I seem to be in the mood to make big beads, so this weekend, I continued with the theme from last week... I created this two-tone blue focal lentil bead, and delineated the opaque and transparent glass with a soft khaki stripe... I then decorated each side of the bead with a row of tiny raised dots for a bit of texture.

Size: Large Focal = 25mm x 26mm

I created a lovely focal lentil bead: dark amber glass combined with turquoise glass, and lightly etched it for a soft, smooth texture.  I liked the colour combination so much that I made 17 matching accent beads in shades of amber and turquoise to go with the focal, and this set was created :)

This week, I spent a bit of time making this stunning oval floral focal bead. The base is a lovely transparent ink blue glass, decorated with shimmering blue dichroic glass, and topped with amethyst and aqua flowers surrounding the entire surface of the bead...

Size: 18mm x 28mm on average

This week, I made a matching pair of teal and ink blue purple glass bead cubes (actually, they look more like rectangles!) with 2 holes, rather than the usual 1 hole through the bead...  The two holes are great for using in a two-strand necklace or bracelet, or for using as a centre focal tassel bead with lots of dangles.

 

 Size: Medium Focals = 12mm wide x 16mm long.

This week, I have prepared set of glass beads in various colours, and each bead is decorated with smooth scrollwork... Except for the green centre bead, all are matched pairs! There are 19 beads in the set, definitely enough beads in the set to make a great necklace, or a fun bracelet and earrings...

This week’s bead is a large lentil focal bead in aqua, white, and purple glass, swirled gently in the centre and decorated with a series of delicate metallic dots for a bit of texture...

This week’s bead is one beautiful focal, and a personal favourite of mine (I'm going to have to make another one of these for myself!).  A black glass base bead, decorated with sparkling raised dots that are large and shimmering like dewdrops :)

This week’s bead is a set of three glass ladybugs in a dark red glass, decorated with intense black spots on their bodies, and tiny little eyes on their faces :)

A bit of a change this week:  for those of you who would like to have something ready-made to hang on a silver chain, the bead of the week is a pendant!  A pale aqua hollow lentil-shaped bead, filled with seed beads, and wired into a sterling silver pendant with aqua crystals...

A set of three glass flower beads in three different colours - these were inspired by spring and all the bright crocuses and tulips growing in my garden. :)  Click on the photos for a top and side view.

Bead of the week #7

The beads are a pair of glass bead donuts in beautiful sky blue, decorated with extra dark red glass swirls and dots.  They make great earring beads, and they are great as focal beads on a beaded rope, or just strung on leather cord or a silver chain.

Size: Donut Focal = 7mm wide x 15mm across.

This week’s beads are a pair of glass bead cones, one in amber and the other in blue, decorated with layers of colour to accent the cone shape.  These are great to use instead of silver cones in your necklace designs, and work particularly well when you have several necklace strands merging together.

This week’s bead is actually a set of three white calla lillies, hand-shaped in freeform style on transparent green stems (which act as loops for hanging).

This week’s bead is a long, spiral snake bead in ivory glass, decorated with a pattern of dots around the body, showing off the wonderful reaction between ivory and turquoise glass... He has sparkly brown eyes :)

Bead of the week #3:

This week’s bead is actually a set: three diamond-shaped medium focal beads in a new and rich colour from Italy called "red wine purple", accented by white and clear glass in dots and swirls, with matching accent beads and spacers.

Focal: 7mm x 13mm; Spacers: 6 mm x 9mm.

Cost: $39.00 US ($44.00 Cnd.)

This week’s bead is actually a little set: one sculptural floral focal in peridot and ink blue, accompanied by tiny peridot spacers.
